Spicy Sichuan Edamame

Picture of spicy Sichuan Edamame

Sometimes you just need a messy bowl of spicy Edamame. No need to plate them up. Just sticky fingers, spicy sauce, crunchy pods, and pure bliss.

Edamame is one of my favorite snacks because it is the laziest way to get protein. Just buy the frozen edamame at your grocery store and microwave on 2 minutes and you've got 17 grams of protein in less than 5 minutes. (shh, don't tell anyone I told you to use a microwave!)

I am also a very tactile person, so I love the interactive experience of popping edamame into my mouth—it elevates my eating experience to a whole new level.

This recipe features a special addition of Sichuan peppercorns, known for their unique 'tingly' sensation when eaten. These peppercorns add an exciting twist that sets this snack apart. Remember to wash your hands thoroughly after handling any peppers or spicy seeds to avoid transferring that tingly feeling to your eyes—trust me, you don't want that surprise!

You can store this delicious snack in the fridge for 4-5 days. If the pods start to turn brown, it's a sign they need to be discarded. However, these edamame are so irresistibly tasty that I doubt they’ll stick around that long! The combination of the savory edamame and the intriguing kick of Sichuan peppercorns makes it hard to stop munching.

Whether you’re serving them as an appetizer, a side dish, or just a quick snack, this recipe is sure to become a favorite. Enjoy the burst of flavor and the delightful tingle with every bite!
